IFIP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct
Fully 33 years after TC9 Chair Harold Sackman began a project to create an IFIP Code of Ethics, with the tireless efforts of Jacques Berleur and of Don Gotterbarn, to name but two of the hundreds who have contributed to this project, the IFIP General Assembly of September 2020 enthusiastically adopted the IFIP Code of Ethics prepared by the Task and Finish Group, David Kreps (TC9 Chair), Don Gotterbarn (SIG9.2.2 Chair), Moira de Roche (IP3 Chair), and Margaret Havey (MSA Rep.)

IFIP Position Paper on E-Waste: taking responsibility
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are often presented as tools that are put to use towards desirable outcomes, such as efficiency, development, security, and now also sustainability. ICT for sustainability and Green IT are increasingly promoted as fields that will produce new knowledge for more sustainable products and practices, countering current challenges such as climate change and non-renewable energy use.
This IFIP Position Paper – work on which began in Autumn 2017 among TC9 members – sets out some of the detail of the problem, as it currently stands, and what role the International Federation for Information Processing affirms it can play in trying to redress it. See the Position Paper on the IFIP website Published June 2019
